1955-56

Gunsmoke arrives and the era of westerns begins. Hollywood studios come aboard, pushing out live dramas. Fifteen-minute programs continue to disappear.

DuMont dies. Its last remaining programs were occasional sporting events. Its last program was Boxing from St. Nicholas Arena, at 9pm on Mondays, followed by At Ringside at 10:45. It, and the network, ended April 6, 1956. Game show What's the Story ran until September 23, 1955, 9:30 on Wednesdays. Four popular DuMont shows moved to ABC.
