ABC: The Danny Thomas Show was formerly named Make Room for Daddy.

CBS: A program about the presidential election, Pick the Winner, aired from September to October 31 on Wednesdays, 7:30-8pm (it had also aired in 1952 on both DuMont and CBS). Shower of Stars continued to air once a month, Thursdays at 8:30-9:30. Douglas Edwards with the News aired at 6:45 on some affiliates, and at 7:15 on others. My Friend Flicka ran 39 episodes, February 10, 1956-February 1, 1957. Mr. Adams and Eve replaced Crusader on January 4.

NBC: Hallmark Hall of Fame aired monthly, 7:30-9pm on Sundays. Producers' Showcase continued to run monthly, 8pm-9:30 on Mondays. Saturday Color Carnival aired monthly, Saturday at 9pm-10:30. The Dinah Shore Show ran monthly, Fridays at 10-11pm.

To Tell the Truth debuts on December 18, 1956, and would run until September 6, 1968 on CBS. Syndicated program The Jack LaLanne Show debuts in 1956 and would run until 1970.

NTA Film Network, effectively a syndication package, was launched in October and lasted as a primetime alternative until November 1961. Taped programs were mailed to more than 100 affiliates. 20th Century Fox bought a 50% stake in the company shortly after its launch. NTA's programs this season included The Bill Corum Sports Show, Man's Heritage, The Passerby, and Fox films.
