1983-84

ABC airs The Day After on November 20. NBC airs the mini-series V: The Final Battle, May 6-8. Night Court, Webster, and Kate & Allie debut. NBC establishes a four-sitcom Thursday, and would stick to it for twenty years. CBS alters its four-sitcom Monday for the last time with Scarecrow and Mrs. King, which ran at 8pm for three years before being sent to Friday in the Fall of 1986. NBC goes all-rookie all season on Friday, airing seven new duds, such as Manimal and The Master (a.k.a. Master Ninja).

ABC: The ABC Thursday Night Movie ran during February and May, 8-10pm. Automan ran Mondays at 8pm, March 5-April 2. Blue Thunder -- which starred Dick Butkus, Dana Carvey, Bubba Smith, and James Farentino -- ran Mondays at 8pm, April 9 & 16 before its cancellation.

CBS: Suzanne Pleshette Is Maggie Briggs ran on Sundays at 8pm, March 4-April 15. Cutter to Houston ran Saturdays at 8-9pm, in September. Press Your Luck debuted on September 19.

NBC: Buffalo Bill ran Thursdays after Cheers from midseason to April 5. Father Murphy reruns replaced First Camera on April 8. Friday Night Videos premiered on July 29, 1983 and would run until 2002.

Syndication: Love Connection and Wheel of Fortune debuted on September 19 (Wheel's daytime edition ran on NBC, 1975-1991). Fame moved from NBC and Too Close for Comfort moved from ABC.
