The Quiz Show Scandals led to the cancellation of most network game shows, as sponsors to pulled out and audiences turned away. ABC News took the place of John Daly and the News, which moved to 10:30. Dragnet comes to a (temporary) end after 8 seasons. Gracie Allen retired and George Burns went to NBC for a season. Leave It to Beaver moved from CBS to ABC.

ABC: Encounters lasted only five episodes. Black Saddle debuted on January 10, 1959, and ran at 10:30 on Fridays. Confession ended on January 13, 1959 and was replaced by Alcoa Presents: One Step Beyond. Tombstone Territory returned on March 13 to replace Man with a Camera, which would return for a second, final season on October 19, 1959.

CBS: The Westinghouse Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show (The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour) ran monthly at 10pm on Mondays. Your Hit Parade moved from NBC. The Jackie Gleason Show came back after a hiatus from June 1957-October 1958, only to be canceled in January 1959 (but revived in 1962). Rawhide took the 8-9pm Friday slot in January.

NBC: Saturday Night News continued to air at 7pm-7:30.
Concentration debuts on August 25, 1958 and would run until 1978.

The NTA Film Network provided several programs to its 100+ affiliates, including Fox movies, How to Marry a Millionaire, Man Without a Gun, Danger Is My Business, Open End, TV Hour of Stars, The Big Night, Divorce Court, William Tell, This Is Alice, Mantovani, The Best of Bishop Sheen and Juke Box Jury.
